Now
it is my turn to tell you the truth
about me, Baby Bookworm, with only one tooth!
I am sucking and nibbling, eating my own way through
quite a difficult sentence, reading it to and fro.
Before I start spelling, it first must be checked:
Can one read the text even when turned on its head?
But in fact, what I do when I flip through a book,
is to watch out for pictures, though I know dad's stern look...
A light colored image is easy to read,
much more than long phrases with letters, indeed!
However, my tummy starts rumbling each day.
Whenever a book is in sight, mom will say,
"I can read in your face, you are hungry, my son.
Would you like to have a new story that's fun?"
Then, I cannot resist and dive in it headfirst,
getting gripped by suspense, gently urged by my thirst.
In no time I forget any trouble I've had,
gladly eating my way through the alphabet.
Maybe in a day, or a year, or so,
I will get one more tooth, and my hunger will grow...
